Skyfall Research: Social Networking - part 2
There are many Gifs and pictures of the Skyfall film currently circulating Tumblr, along with many captions such as "I recommend going to see Skyfall" and "Amazing film!"
Skyfall Research: Social Networks
There are currently five Facebook pages devoted to the new Skyfall Bond film. This was brought to my attention after a few of my friends 'liked' the various pages. This shows that marketing via social networking sites also serves as a form of word-of-mouth.
Skyfall Research: Official Soundtrack
This is the official soundtrack for Skyfall. It is preformed by Adele, who thought of this as a important milestone in her career, as the soundtrack is often an iconic feature of a Bond film. This raised further support for the film, as many Adele fans were introduced to the film, through hearing the news of Adele being chosen to preform the theme song. Unfortunately there is no official video out for this soundtrack yet.
Skyfall Research: Interviews
These images were taken by me of an advert on MTV showing interviews with some members of the Skyfall cast.
Skyfall Research: Official Trailer
Although released on the 26th October, Skyfall trailers have been advertising on many different websites since as early as 21st May. This trailer was issued later on the 31st July, as one strategy of the marketing team was to release a series of trailers over a couple of months. This has the effect of arousing interest from viewers who watch these trailers on the TV or internet. Another reason why this trailer was released later, is because it was meant for an American audience. This is seen at the end of the trailer, where the official release date for the film is stated as the 9th November, the official release date for the film in the USA.
Skyfall Research: Billboard Poster
This was taken by me outside of City and Islington College. This is a great Ad campaign as part of the marketing for Skyfall, because this poster is on a billboard which means it can viewed by a range of people, including pedestrians and people driving by. It is also right outside a College, which means that it will also be viewed daily and begin to both stir and build the interest of the younger generation who are more likely to visit the cinema more frequently.
Skyfall Research: The Premiere
These pictures were featured on X-factor, as the contestants received tickets to go to the Skyfall premiere. This is an example of both 'Marketing' and 'Distribution', because a premiere is one form of distribution. It is also an example of marketing, because they were guaranteed a larger fan base by having X-factor contestants present, as this would further encourage X-factor viewers, families, friends and supporters to attend as well. Another reason why it is an example of marketing is because it was also featured on X-factor, which is a programme watched by millions of viewers, and in turn will increases it's publicity.
Research on Swedes: Inception Sweded
I enjoyed this swede because the way in which they used they're props was inventive and mirrored the way in which CGI and graphics were used in the actual film. The acting added an element of comedy captured my interest and added to my enjoyment. There is a scene in which toy cars are used, which reminded me of the use of a toy in car in my groups swede.
Planning For Your Own Swede

Ideas for our swede

Research: Star Wars Swede
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReWNtJNEdoI&feature=related
I really enjoy the Star Wars film series and usually don't like swedes, however I really loved how this 3 minute clip summaries the entire film.
Even on low budget, I found the clip interesting because they used their imagination to create special effects.
Film production process
Pre-Production
Pre-production is a fairly loose term which refers to the tasks undertaken before production begins. Exactly what is included in this stage depends on the medium and situation.
For a small video company, pre-production may refer to everything that happens before shooting begins, for example, meeting with the client, research, storyboarding, location planning, etc.
For feature films, pre-production is more specific and only begins when other milestones have been met such as financing, screenplay, casting and major staffing. In this case pre-production includes:
- Location scouting
- Prop and wardrobe identification and preparation
- Special effects identification and preparation
- Production schedule
- Set construction
- Script-locking (semi-finalisation of the script)
- Script read-through with cast, director and other interested parties
Production
In film and video, production refers to the part of the process in which footage is recorded. This is what most people imagine when they think of a film being made — actors on sets, cameras rolling, etc. The production phase is also known as principal photography.
In large feature films the beginning of the production phase marks the "point of no return", i.e. the point at which it is no longer financially viable to cancel the project. At this point it is almost always cheaper to continue until the project is finished than to deal with the financial fall-out of canceling.
The goal of principal photography is obviously to record all required shots, however it is fairly common to shoot "pick-up" shots in post-production. Pick-up shots may be required when a mistake is noticed, a script change is made (this is unusual), or even if a performance is deemed to be unsatisfactory.
In music, production usually refers to the creative direction of a project. Unlike a film producer who is more of a manager, a music producer has a very hands-on role in the creative development.
Post-Production
Post-production is the third and final major phase of the production process. It is often referred to simply as post, e.g. "We can sort that out in post".
There are many things which can happen in post-production. Common tasks include:
- Editing video footage
- Editing the soundtrack, adding sound effects, music, etc.
- Adding titles and graphics
- Colour and exposure correction
- Adding special effects
- Re-shooting certain scenes if required ("pick-up" shots)
In some cases post-production is relatively straightforward, consisting of choosing and arranging footage in the correct sequence. In most cases however, post-production is a time-consuming job taking longer than the actual production phase.
